The district borders on the states of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh and overlaps the southeastern part of the Vindhyachal-Baghelkhand region of peninsular India.
Deepadih, Deogarh, Ramgarh Hill, Kailash Caves, Shivpur Shiv Temple, Budha Temple, Mainpat, Nageshwar Shiv Temple, Tata Pani, Thin- Thini Patthar, Pawai Water Fall, and Kudargarhi Devi are the major tourist destinations.
