The university assumed the shape of residential University in the year 1975.
The university has nurtured other premier institutes also. Kamla Nehru Institute of Technology, Sultanpur, an institute offering Graduate & Postgraduate degrees in various Engineering streams, was affiliated to it.
At campus level the University has been conducting Under Graduate / Post Graduate studies and researches in the disciplines of Economics, Mathematics & Statistics, Bio-Chemistry, Microbiology, Environmental Sciences and M.B.A.
