Simdega District is situated in the south-western part of the state of Jharkhand.
The district has borders with Orissa and Chhattisgarh states.
The district of Simdega consists of ten blocks namely Simdega, Kurdeg, Bolba, Thethaitangar, Kolebira, Bano, Jaldega, Pakartanr, Bansjore and
Kersai.
It comprises of the area, which was erstwhile the Simdega Subdivision of the district of Gumla.
