Angul District is the Centrally located district in Orissa State. Angul city, which is considered as the industrial capital of Orissa, is its headquarters.
Angul district came into existence on April 1, 1993. Angul is the most advanced districts of the state. Orissa's vast coal mines are located in Angul district.
Angul district is also the hottest district in India, where the maximum temperature goes up to 50 degree Celcius, during summer.
Angul district is divided into a number of Blocks, Tehsils and subdivisions to ease in administration. The district is surrounded by Cuttack & Dhenkanal in the east, Sambalpur & Deogarh in the west, Sundargarh & Keonjhar in the north and Phulbani in the south.
