Mohali District is a newly created District of Punjab in 2006. This district also known as S.A.S. Nagar District.

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (S.A.S. Nagar) is the headquarters of the district.
Mohali District has emerged as a major center of technical education. There are 8 engineering colleges which offer variety of technical course.
