In order to provide training to the officers for smooth functioning of the administrative machinery the Government of India set up the "Orientation Study Center" at Mysore in 1959.
This institute was handed over to Government of Mysore in 1967 and the institute was renamed as Administrative Training Institute (ATI). The ATI is the apex training institute of the Government of Karnataka and caters mainly to the training needs of Group 'A' and Group 'B' officers of Karnataka.
