The region covers over 52% of the State of Karnataka and 12 revenue districts of Karnataka out of 27 districts.
The entire area of the region is declared as backward for development purpose by the Government of Karnataka. The average area and average population served by each Post office in the region comes to 2.23 Sq.Kms and 4226 respectively.
